About HOD Beauty Academy

HOD Beauty Academy was founded from a place of passion, purpose, and a desire to transform lives through beauty.

Founded by Jael Adusei, a graduate of the University of Ghana, the journey of HOD Beauty began in 2014 during her university years. What started as a simple hobby and genuine love for beauty quickly became something much bigger. While still in school, Jael began practicing makeup artistry on roommates and close friends, often offering free makeovers simply out of passion and curiosity to perfect her craft.

As demand grew and more people began appreciating her work, a close friend encouraged her to start charging for her services. What started as a small side hustle soon evolved into a growing beauty brand with a clear vision.

That was how HOD Beauty was born — originally inspired by the name House of Dolls. The name was intentionally crafted from the trending beauty culture of the time, where phrases like “You look like a doll” symbolized flawless beauty, elegance, and perfection. HOD Beauty became a reflection of a space where beauty was elevated and confidence was transformed.

A major turning point came in 2015, when Jael had the opportunity to travel to South Africa, where she gained deeper exposure to professional beauty practices while learning within her aunt’s salon environment. This experience sharpened her skills and gave her the foundation to return home and pursue makeup artistry professionally.

Since then, HOD Beauty has grown beyond a beauty brand into a respected training and empowerment platform. Over the years, Jael has trained hundreds of students through one-on-one mentorship and small group sessions. Many of these students have gone on to practice professionally in the beauty industry, while others gained skills for personal development and self-expression.

Her excellence and dedication have earned recognition through multiple awards on major platforms, media features in newspapers, and partnerships with both government institutions, local brands, and private organizations focused on skills development and empowerment.

As the vision expanded, so did the mission.

What was once taught in a working studio and intimate training spaces evolved into something greater — HOD Beauty Academy.

Today, HOD Beauty Academy exists as a structured professional institution committed to training aspiring beauty professionals in Makeup, Hair, Nails, and Beauty Entrepreneurship. Our goal is not only to teach beauty skills, but to equip students with confidence, knowledge, discipline, and practical industry experience needed to thrive in the beauty world.
